Exchange and Networking

At TH Köln there are currently about 230 doctoral researchers from all faculties who are doing their doctorate as part of a cooperative doctorate or a doctorate with PK NRW. The networking of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers within the university and with the respective scientific community is a particular concern of the university.

Representation: Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers Convention of TH Köln

In the afternoon for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at TH Köln, the attending doctoral researchers and postdocs elected two representatives to speak for the doctoral and postdoctoral researchers convention.The convention is the representation of all doctoral researchers and postdocs united in Graduate Center.

It serves to create networks among the doctoral researchers and postdocs and to represent their interests across disciplines. The speakers are available to answer questions from all those interested in doing a doctorate and after finishing it. In addition, the doctoral and postdoctoral representatives take on the role of the doctoral candidate's and postdoc's mouthpiece in regular meetings with representatives of the university management.

At the 18th Afternoon for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers Felix Kuthe was elected as spokesperson and Theresa Marie Wobbe as deputy spokesperson of the Doctoral and Postdoctoral Convention.

Cross-faculty networking: Afternoons Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers

Since 2012, the Afternoon for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers at TH Köln provides the opportunity to get to know each other personally and to talk to the university management twice a year. In addition to an information section on changing topics, the event also offers a regular forum to express your own needs, wishes and criticism.

Informal exchange of Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers

The doctoral and postdoctoral representatives have set up a working group in TH Spaces that works like a "peer-to-peer" marketplace. The aim is to promote cross-faculty, interdisciplinary exchange and interaction between doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at TH Köln: Tandems / teams can form here, event notices can be posted and tips and tricks can be exchanged.

Scientific Exchange

At some faculties or institutes of the TH Köln there are discipline-related offers for scientific exchange and networking as part of the doctorate, for example in the form of doctoral colloquia. Specialist conferences are ideal for international exchange and networking with the scientific community - speak to your supervisor about these options.

On November 18, 2024, the 18th Doctoral Researchers and Postdocs Afternoon took place at the Deutz Campus. The event centered around a discussion with doctorates and postdocs from TH Köln on the topic: "Graduated - Now Wiser? Providing Impulses, Encouraging, Sharing Knowledge."
