The TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences considers itself a University of Technology, Arts, Sciences. Disciplinarily and culturally diverse, the TH Köln creates social innovation and contributes to solving the challenges of today’s society. As a community of faculty and students, we see ourselves as a learning organization forging new paths. For instance, the TH Köln continues to pioneer new didactic concepts for academic teaching.
Teaching and Learning Culture
Our subject range includes the fields of Applied Natural Sciences, Architecture and Construction, Information and Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, Culture, Society and Social Sciences as well as Business Studies. 43 undergraduate and more than 50 graduate programs offer the opportunity for full time as well as part time studies and integrated degree programs.
The TH Köln has received a positive system accreditation from the German accreditation council, having demonstrated that its quality management system in the field of study and teaching is suitable for ensuring that the qualification goals and quality standards of its study programs are achieved.
As a place for research-oriented learning and scientific education, the TH Köln also promotes young scientists through cooperative doctoral projects. Annually, about 4,700 students take up their studies at TH Köln. Currently there are about 21,500 students from 120 countries enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. Additionally, 440 professors and about 1,600 employees contribute their potential.
Research and Development
Climate change, scarce resources, safety issues and demographic change are some of the major challenges mankind will be facing in the coming decades. In their application-oriented and interdisciplinary projects, experienced researchers are tackling these issues and actively contribute to the advancement of science, the economy and society. We cooperate with universities, other research institutions, business partners and the civil society an on a national and international level. TH Köln is a research-intensive university actively engaging in a variety of research activities. With the 'HR Excellence in Research Award', the European Commission recognizes the TH Köln’s international standards regarding human resources development.
Continuing education
TH Köln also puts emphasis on quality in advanced academic training and promotes competencies as well as personal and professional development through a variety of programs offered to those who are interested in further education, to those who are currently working as well as to those who are returning to work.
Internationalization
We maintain close relationships with other universities not only in Germany, but also internationally. Together with our 350 partner universities abroad, we offer a wide range of study abroad and funding opportunities and support student mobility. For example, several master's programs are offered entirely in English. One third of the students from abroad come from overseas: from Africa, America, Asia or Australia.
We belong to UAS7, a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences, and are also a full member of the European University Association (EUA).
We are also no stranger to corporate social responsibility: we are certified as a family-friendly university and audited as an environmentally oriented institution in accordance with the European eco-management guidelines EMAS and ISO 14001. TH Köln has joined the European initiative EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion.
TH Köln campuses are located in Cologne, Gummersbach and Leverkusen.
