11th Afternoon for Doctorates
On November 3, 2020, the eleventh Afternoon for Doctorates offered doctoral researchers of TH Köln an opportunity to get to know each other and to network. As a part of the virtual event with 25 participants, the participants got in touch with the university management and elected new doctoral representatives.

After a greeting by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Becker, Vice President for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Graduate Center presented its qualification program for the winter semester as well as the new funding program for proofreading and editing service for English scientific articles for doctoral candidates. The presentation was followed by a discussion on the subject of “supervision agreements in practice”.
Next, three successful doctorates presented their research: Yifei Zhan from the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences, Martina Echtenbruck from the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences and Samineh Bagheri from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science reported on their (virtual) disputations, gave some general tips for the doctorate and answered questions from the participants.
After a short break the new doctorate representatives, who will speak for the doctoral researchers' needs in the coming year, were elected. Candidates were René Degen (Faculty of Vehicle Systems and Production), Tim Jannusch (Faculty of Economics and Law), Silke Lichtenberg (Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems) and Juliane Ressel (Faculty of Economics and Law). Juliane Ressel was elected as speaker and Tim Jannusch as deputy speaker.
Graduate Center of TH Köln organizes Afternoons of Doctorates one to two times a year in cooperation with the doctoral representatives of TH Köln. The networking events take place since 2012. The 12th Afternoon of the Doctorates shall take place in May 2021, and all doctoral researchers at TH Köln are cordially invited.
