Co-Site | How we work

Knowledge is not meant to be stowed away; it must be applied, especially on-site. Knowledge transfer is a paramount concern for TH Köln. With Co-Site, we strive to make knowledge not only accessible but also effective. Our research endeavours involve collaborative work with partners in a real-world laboratory.

Our goal is not just to provide solutions derived from university research but also to tap into the wealth of experience and knowledge present in civil society, business, and politics. This collaborative approach allows us to develop strategies tailored to the region. By pooling our resources and working together, we can generate synergy effects and establish sustainable networks.

Research in the Real-World Laboratory

A real-world laboratory serves as an experimental space for collaboration, allowing experiments under authentic conditions directly on-site. Stakeholders from science, politics, business, and society converge to exchange ideas, learn from each other, generate new knowledge, and collaborate on sustainable solutions for social change. Here, innovative ideas, transformative approaches, and new social practices are practically tested under scientific supervision.

Co-Creative Collaboration

Transformative science, which instigates change, is crucial in addressing the challenges of climate change. To understand the region's specific issues and envision a desirable future, we believe in co-creative collaboration with local partners—from ideation to realization. It is essential to involve our partners throughout the knowledge generation process, as the prefix "co-" signifies collaboration, cooperation, and collectivity.

The aim is to combine and further develop existing methods in such a way that researchers and non-scientists can generate knowledge together. We create a space for this to engage all relevant stakeholders and involve them in the research process.

In Co-Site, we are committed to translating our understanding of knowledge transfer into practice, setting an exemplary standard. The future of science lies in research that is understandable to people and aligned with their needs.
