Requirements for participation
- This workshop is primarily aimed at international degree-seeking students from German and English-speaking STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), but it is also open to international students from other disciplines.
- You are prepared to actively engage in all class activities (this also implies turning on the camera during the Zoom sessions).
- If you are enrolled in a degree program taught in English: Your German language skills are at level B2, proven by SLZ placement test (taken within the last two semesters) or by submission of a certificate (not older than two years).
- You have the necessary technical equipment to participate in the E-Learning units: PC/laptop with camera and microphone, stable internet connection, valid campusID.
This workshop is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Writing term papers and theses is an essential part of studying. However, before you start writing, you need to plan your text properly and in a structured way.
In this workshop consisting of two parts you will acquire basic knowledge and skills for writing an academic paper. You will learn strategies for narrowing down your topic and creating an outline. You will also practise writing an introduction and a conclusion and learn how to cite other academic texts. Finally, you will reflect on how to deal with writer's block and discuss possible solutions.
