Inaugural Webinar for Course on Innovative Sustainable Agriculture Solutions for Land Restoration
The Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems at TH Köln in cooperation with its CNRD partner German Jordanian University organized the inaugural webinar to introduce the global course "Trigger Change! Innovative Sustainable Agriculture Solutions for Land Restoration" on May 20, 2024.
The webinar attracted a large number of participants from both regional and global communities. A group of experts from various sectors delivered key presentations and speeches. Among them were Professor Munjed Al Sharif from the German Jordanian University, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Al Ftouh, Director of the Department of Environmental & Meteorological Affairs (EMA) and head of the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) at the League of Arab States (LAS), Dr. Munir Al Rousan, Professor at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST); Salma AlSayyad, Project Officer of UNCCD; and Dr. Olfa Mahjoub, Associate Professor at the National Research Institute for Rural Engineering, Water, and Forestry (INRGREF), Tunisia.
These key speakers provided valuable insights into the newly developed course and discussed how it aims to empower a new generation of land restorers in the Arab region, which is one of the areas most affected by land degradation.

This event targeted researchers, educators, professionals, and students from the Arab region, aiming to promote innovative and sustainable agricultural practices for land restoration. The webinar was the first in a series of regional introductions for the course. Three more webinars will be held to introduce the course to different regions of the world as follows:
