ITT Alumni Seminar: River Deltas at Risk. Application now open.
The ITT at the Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems, together with EE+E Environmental Engineering+Ecology and with financial support from the DAAD, is organising the international alumni seminar on "River Deltas at Risk". Alumni of the ITT from developing countries and other German universities are invited to participate.

Three phases - September 2024 to May 2025
The alumni seminar will take place over three phases, starting with a one-week face-to-face seminar in Hanoi, Vietnam from 24 September to 1 October 2024, including an excursion to the Red River Delta. An optional online phase on the topic of "Entrepreneurship" is planned for November 2024, followed by the final phase in May 2025 in Cologne, Germany with an advanced field trip to the Oder Delta.
In-depth Knowledge and Practical Experience
The seminar aims to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and practical experience in dealing with the challenges of land and water management in river deltas worldwide that are severely affected by climate change. The focus will be on the Red River Delta in Vietnam and the Oder River in Germany/Poland, both with their unique challenges and learning opportunities.
Assumption of costs
The costs of travel and accommodation as well as health insurance (max. 30 euros) and visas are covered for the participants.

Significant Challenges Posed by Climate Change
River deltas are among the areas most affected by climate change worldwide, with far-reaching consequences for the 339 million people living there. The seminar addresses the urgent challenges in the areas of biodiversity, sustainable use of land and water resources and conflicts between human and natural interests in these key areas.
