PIONEER Alliance

TH Köln is a founding member of the university consortium PIONEER Alliance, a European university alliance that has existed since 2019 and brings together ten European universities, over 130,000 students and 17,000 faculty and staff. PIONEER uses the European Universities Initiative to bring the ten institutions together in a federated organization with a common development strategy that offers clear added value for inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities.

Centers for Natural Resources and Developments

CNRD is a worldwide university network promoting academic exchange and cooperation in the area of natural resources management, in particular related to water, land, ecosystem and renewable energy resources. The network aims to provide a valuable contribution to the Post 2015 Agenda and to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Global Design Initiative

Since 2015, the Köln International School of Design (KISD) at TH Köln has been involved in the Global Design Initiative, an association of universities from five countries. The aim of the initiative is to establish a “Global Design Faculty” and thus an internationally oriented design education that transcends cultural and subject boundaries.

German University Consortium for International Cooperations

The German University Consortium for International Cooperations (Deutsches Hochschulkonsortium für Internationale Kooperationen – DHIK) unites 26 German Universities of Applied Sciences, who offer exchange and double degree programs for engineering students with foreign universities.

European University Association

The European University Association (EUA) is the representative organisation of universities and national rectors’ conferences in 47 European countries. EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna Process and in influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation. Thanks to its interaction with a range of other European and international organisations EUA ensures that the independent voice of European universities is heard, wherever decisions are being taken that will impact on their activities.

Scholars at Risk

Scholars at Risk is an international network of institutions and individuals whose mission it is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. By arranging temporary academic positions at member universities and colleges, Scholars at Risk offers safety to scholars facing grave threats, so scholars’ ideas are not lost and they can keep working until conditions improve and they are able to return to their home countries. Scholars at Risk also provides advisory services for scholars and hosts, campaigns for scholars who are imprisoned or silenced in their home countries, monitoring of attacks on higher education communities worldwide, and leadership in deploying new tools and strategies for promoting academic freedom and improving respect for university values everywhere.
