Graduation ceremony 2024 at Leverkusen campus

On 24 May 2024, the graduates of the Applied Chemistry (B.Sc. & M.Sc.), Pharmaceutical Chemistry (B.Sc.) and Drug Discovery and Development (M.Sc.) degree programmes were bid farewell in a festive ceremony attended by around 180 guests. For the first time, the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences organised its annual graduation ceremony at the new campus.
"We are proud to send another Bachelor's and Master's class on their way to an exciting scientific career in industry or academia. They are now part of a large network of graduates from this faculty who have already successfully followed this path," says Professor Matthias Hochgürtel, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
„Through their collaboration in practical projects and their final theses, you have made an important scientific contribution and successfully advanced research projects - both outside and within the faculty,“ said Professor Hochgürtel, thanking the graduates and making them aware that their expertise as young scientists is not only of great importance in their professional careers, but also as citizens of our society.
The Dean's opening speech was followed by a moving insight into the career of Alena Ludat, a Bachelor's graduate of the dual study programme in Pharmaceutical Chemistry - from her training as a chemical laboratory assistant to her successfully completed Bachelor's thesis ‘Live cell imaging fluorescent dyes to assess the viability of cultured hiPSC’ in cooperation with Bayer AG.
The graduation certificates were then presented to the 48 Bachelor's and Master's graduates who completed their degrees between February 2023 and March 2024. Eugen Banmann, now a doctoral student in Professor Ulrich Schörken's working group at the Leverkusen campus, received an award for outstanding achievements in the Master's degree programme in Applied Chemistry.
After the official presentation of the certificates, the graduates celebrated with their families, friends and lecturers in the festively decorated canteen with champagne, beer and a varied buffet.
